Girl, Wash your face

By Rachel Hollis

Let’s just go ahead and call this book what it is.......a bible in it’s own right.

A bible for women when we need a push, a reminder of just how bad ass we are and how bad ass we are meant to be. Rachel Hollis has written a collection of “Lies". Lies we tell ourselves, lies we let other people tell us, or circumstances that we allow to determine the steps of our individual journey. All of these lies are keeping us from our best selves, from the version of ourselves that deep down we want to become.

It’s not your average “self help” book with medical facts and percentages. It doesn’t boast methods that work 100% of the time. It doesn’t give you the predictable jargon about hard work and a positive attitude, although those things are important. It’s honest and relatable. It’s realistic and attainable. And the best part is it’s all within you.

Now while this is not my normal mystery/thriller genre, I am so glad this was recommended to me by a friend. This is one of those books that I will go back and re-read when I feel I’ve lost the gusto to fulfill my dreams, or I’m feeling a lack of confidence. This is one of those books that you can’t pass on to a friend, better to just gift her her own copy because you have too many dog ears and highlighter marks through it. Trust me, gems were dropped and I ate them up like Thanksgiving dinner. I strongly believe you will too.

She writes in a way that makes you feel like you know her.

Like you have been friends for years. This book was so enjoyable because it felt like she’s just having a casual conversation with the reader, sharing stories of tragedy and triumph. Somewhere along the way you find yourself feeling more powerful, more confident, more ready to battle your insecurities and the voices inside your head whispering defeat.

I finished this book with a fire lit underneath me, speaking with intention about the dreams I have and real ideas on how to make them come true.
I hope you are able to take away even a shred of the empowerment that she laced so effortlessly throughout these chapters.

Without a shadow of a doubt this book gets 5/5 cups. Read it, digest it, recommend it to your girlfriends, and then get after it making your own dreams become a reality. Grab your copy right here !
